A Wolf, A Crow, A Fox
Once upon a time there was a Wolf, and the Wolf walked first. When the Wolf grew hungry, felt the First Empty Belly, the Wolf howled a song of fleet feet and fat flanks, and breathed Life into the Caribou and the Elk and the Hare. Wolf ran his prey down in the cold, cold snow and washed his muzzle to the eyes in hot, hot blood, and all was well in the world.
Once upon a time there was a Crow, and the Crow walked first. When the Crow grew hungry, felt the First Empty Belly, the Crow called to the East Wind and the West Wind, and whispered Life into the Wolf. Wolf ran his prey down in the cold, cold snow and washed his muzzle to the eyes in hot, hot blood, and Crow followed Wolf with her sharp, sharp eyes and buried her beak into flesh, and all was well in the world.
Once upon a time there was a Fox, and the Fox walked first. When the Fox grew hungry, felt the First Empty Belly, the Fox told a story of the stunted willows and the high, dark places, and spoke Life into the Crow, who in turn whispered Life into the Wolf. Wolf ran his prey down in the cold, cold snow and washed his muzzle to the eyes in hot, hot blood; and Crow followed Wolf with her sharp, sharp eyes and buried her beak into flesh; and Fox followed Crow with his wide, wide grin and got more than his fair share, and all was well in the world.

The Fox and the Crow
They had known one another for many years. Crow had a weakness for things that sparkled and Kyuubi was quite adept at acquiring such objects. They met at a bazaar in the Early Days, when ancient things were new and Gods were still at large in the world, and Crow still had her sight.
For you see, the pair of them were very old, though they didn’t look it. Legends say Kyuubi stole a pearl from the God of the Sun and gave it to Night to become the Moon, and the God of the Sun was so impressed with his craft that he did not punish him for the crime.
Crow stockpiled fallen stars in caves deep beneath the earth, only to lose them when the earth shook and split and buried them for humans to find lifetimes later.
But these are tales for another time.
